Welcome to my senior project website. This site is designed to teach basic music theory and analyze it's application in various pieces of popular music. Diagrams, tables, and audio aids can be found on each page of this site. This project is a result of a Basic Music Theory Course I attended at UMass Lowell Fall semester of 2002 and my own independent study. A list of my book and internet resources is located here. The underlying principles of theory addressed in this site, from notation to chord theory, will hopefully lead to a better understanding of how popular music is crafted and recognition of trends in the genre.
